2023-2024 THESA Riders Girls' Basketball

Girls High School & Jr High Basketball

THESA Riders Girls' Basketball
THESA Riders girls' basketball offers competitive basketball for middle and high school aged girls (ages 10 through 18).
The season runs from November to mid-March.
We compete against area home school teams, private schools, and some public schools throughout the DFW area.  Our program attempts to schedule a sufficient number of games in a season to prepare for the end of season homeschool tournaments.
We participate in several homeschool tournaments, some at locations that require overnight stays (State tourney is 3 nights in Round Rock, TX / Nationals is 6 nights in Springfield, MO).

Girls Basketball Fundamental Skills SUMMER program
The THESA Riders Girls' Fundamental Skills program is offered for team members and non-team girls interested in growing their basketball skills.
This skills program is open to all girls who desire to learn or improve their personal basketball skills including shooting, dribbling, passing, and footwork where the sessions are focused on two groups: Beginners (generally age 10-14) and Intermediates (generally age 13-18).

The Fundamental Skills program begins again in May 2025 through July 2025.

Cost is $1 per athlete per session.

Location is:

2024-2025 Boys' Basketball TRYOUT

WHO: All prospective THESA Riders for the 2024-2025 Boys’ Basketball Season.  So, if you know of homeschooled athletes that didn’t play for THESA in 2023-2024, but might be interested this year, please invite them or put them in contact with us.

WHAT (do I do to prepare for tryouts and what do I bring): Athletes should be working on their basketball skills and conditioning.  There are videos on our website that can be used as an aid.

Required Documents: Athletes can complete an online application  (preferred) and release by clicking here; for those that prefer paper, athletes can bring a THESA Basketball Athlete Application and Release form.  Athletes are to bring a valid physical (within last 12 months) to tryouts. If a physical has not been completed, one must be completed before the first game.  NOTE: a THESA Physical form is not required but is provided for convenience.  Please review the THESA Eligibility Requirements, and read the THESA Athletic Handbook

Also, please review the NCHC Homeschool Basketball Eligibility Guidelines.  https://www.nchclive.com/guidelines/

WHEN: August 13, 2024 (times in the table below).  Please arrive 30 minutes before your tryout time for check-in.  A Coaches Look will be August 20, 2024 at the same location from 4:30-6:30 PM for anyone that either can’t attend the regularly scheduled tryout time on August 13 (exception-basis) for their age group, or, for athletes we ask to return to get a 2nd look.  If you can’t attend the August 13th tryout, you must request to attend the coaches look by emailing basketball@thesariders.com. We will briefly address parents/athletes before tryouts; parents are welcome to stay and watch, but please no “coaching” from the bleachers.

HOW (do I know which tryout time to attend): Player team eligibility is determined based on your birthday as of August 1 of the current year.  Example(s):  Player A is 15 as of 8/1/2024.  Player A should attend the 16U Tryout.  Player B is 14 as of 8/1/2024 but wants to be considered for 16U; Player B should attend both the 14U and 16U Tryouts.
