WHO: All prospective THESA Riders for the 2024-2025 Boys’ Basketball Season. So, if you know of homeschooled athletes that didn’t play for THESA in 2023-2024, but might be interested this year, please invite them or put them in contact with us.
WHAT (do I do to prepare for tryouts and what do I bring): Athletes should be working on their basketball skills and conditioning. There are videos on our website that can be used as an aid.
Required Documents: Athletes can complete an online application (preferred) and release by clicking here; for those that prefer paper, athletes can bring a THESA Basketball Athlete Application and Release form. Athletes are to bring a valid physical (within last 12 months) to tryouts. If a physical has not been completed, one must be completed before the first game. NOTE: a THESA Physical form is not required but is provided for convenience. Please review the THESA Eligibility Requirements, and read the THESA Athletic Handbook.
Also, please review the NCHC Homeschool Basketball Eligibility Guidelines. https://www.nchclive.com/guidelines/
WHEN: August 13, 2024 (times in the table below). Please arrive 30 minutes before your tryout time for check-in. A Coaches Look will be August 20, 2024 at the same location from 4:30-6:30 PM for anyone that either can’t attend the regularly scheduled tryout time on August 13 (exception-basis) for their age group, or, for athletes we ask to return to get a 2nd look. If you can’t attend the August 13th tryout, you must request to attend the coaches look by emailing basketball@thesariders.com. We will briefly address parents/athletes before tryouts; parents are welcome to stay and watch, but please no “coaching” from the bleachers.

WHY: This is competitive homeschool basketball so the tryout is used to evaluate skill and potential team placement. Athletes will participate in basketball drills. Because it is competitive, placement is not guaranteed.
HOW (do I know which tryout time to attend): Player team eligibility is determined based on your birthday as of August 1 of the current year. Example(s): Player A is 15 as of 8/1/2024. Player A should attend the 16U Tryout. Player B is 14 as of 8/1/2024 but wants to be considered for 16U; Player B should attend both the 14U and 16U Tryouts.
ATHLETIC FEES*
*Subject to change for 2024-2025 seasons. Also, NCHC also charges a $50 per athlete player fee paid directly to NCHC at the time of player registration for the District/Regional/National Tournaments.
NOTE: Returning 12/14U Players and 16/18U Players do not need a new uniform provided the prior year uniform fits and is in good repair. Uniform includes custom sublimation home and away jersey and shorts and Shooter Shirt. An annual $50 THESA Annual Family Fee will also be collected if not paid yet for the 2024-2025 school year.
Parents: We are in need of volunteers for the upcoming season! Areas of need are coaches, assistant coaches, scorekeepers, clock operators, statistician, video/photography, etc. Please prayerfully consider how you can help.
