SUMMER SKILLS SESSIONS

WHO: All prospective THESA Riders for the 2022-2023 Boys’ Basketball Season.  So, if you know of homeschooled athletes that didn’t play for THESA in 2021-2022 but might be interested this year, please invite them or put them in contact with me.

NOTE: Attendance is highly encouraged, but is neither a requirement nor a guarantee of player placement for the Fall.

WHAT: The intent of these sessions is to not only keep up with conditioning and skills, but also to allow for some half-court and full-court scrimmaging to build team chemistry for the upcoming season.

WHEN: Saturday Mornings starting May 7.  Age Group Schedule is below.

Age Group 8:30 - 10:00 AM
12U/14U May 7, May 21, June 4, June 11, July 9, July 23

WHERE: North Richland Hills Baptist Church

WHY: To build team chemistry and improve competitiveness for the upcoming season and to develop skills.  NOTE: Each player should attend the session for their prospective team.

Example(s):  Player A is 15 as of 9/1/2022, but played on 14U last year.  Player A should attend the 16U/18U session.  Player B is 14 as of 9/1/2022 but wants to be considered for 16U; Player B is encouraged to attend both the 12/14U Session and the 16/18U Session.

HOW (much): The cost will be $10 per player per session.  That money will be payable at the door in cash.

2022-2023 SEASON

HELP NEEDED - THESA is in need of a 12U Head Coach.  Additionally, we are seeing a record # of inquiries and could possibly field additional teams at the 12/14/16U Level.  This is contingent on finding additional coaches and facility space.  Please prayerfully consider how you can help.  Interested parties should email THESA.Riders.Boys.Basketball@gmail.com.

Save the Date!  Tryouts will be August 11, 2022 at Countryside Bible Church in Southlake, Texas.  A Coaches Look will be August 23, 2022 at the same location for anyone that either cannot attend the regularly scheduled tryout time on August 11 (exception-basis) for their age group, or, for athlete(s) we ask to return to get a 2nd look.  More details will be posted soon.  In the meantime, to learn more about THESA basketball, please inquire @ THESA.Riders.Boys.Basketball@gmail.com.

ABOUT THESA BASKETBALL
THESA Riders boys basketball offers competitive basketball for middle and high school aged boys (age 10 and above).
The season runs from November to early March.
We compete against area homeschool teams, private schools, and some public schools throughout the DFW area.  One of our program goals is to schedule a sufficient number of games in a season to prepare us for the homeschool tournaments at the end of our season.
We participate in several homeschool tournaments where some are at locations that require overnight stays (State tourney is 3 nights in Round Rock, TX / Nationals is 6 nights in Springfield, MO).

Required Documents:  Athletes are to bring a THESA Basketball Athlete Application and Release form, and a valid physical (within last 12 months) to tryouts. If a physical has not been completed, one must be completed before the first game.  NOTE: a THESA Physical form is not required but is provided for convenience.  Please review the THESA Eligibility Requirements, and read the THESA Athletic Handbook

Also, please review the NCHC Homeschool Basketball Eligibility Guidelines.  https://www.nchclive.com/guidelines/

Parents: We are in need  of volunteers for the upcoming season!  Areas of need are coaches, assistant coaches, scorekeepers, clock operators, statistician, video/photography, etc.  Please prayerfully consider how you can help.
