2024-2025 BOYS' SEASON

THESA Riders boys basketball offers competitive basketball for middle and high school aged boys (age 10 and above).
The season runs from early September (games start in November) to mid-March. We compete against area homeschool teams, private schools, and some public schools throughout the DFW area.  One of our program goals is to schedule a sufficient number of games in a season to prepare us for the homeschool tournaments at the end of our season.  We participate in several homeschool tournaments where some are at locations that require overnight stays (State tourney is 3 nights in Round Rock, TX / Nationals is 6 nights in Springfield, MO).

2024-2025 Boys' Basketball TRYOUT

WHO: All prospective THESA Riders for the 2024-2025 Boys’ Basketball Season.  So, if you know of homeschooled athletes that didn’t play for THESA in 2023-2024, but might be interested this year, please invite them or put them in contact with us.

WHAT (do I do to prepare for tryouts and what do I bring): Athletes should be working on their basketball skills and conditioning.  There are videos on our website that can be used as an aid.

Required Documents: Athletes can complete an online application  (preferred) and release by clicking here; for those that prefer paper, athletes can bring a THESA Basketball Athlete Application and Release form.  Athletes are to bring a valid physical (within last 12 months) to tryouts. If a physical has not been completed, one must be completed before the first game.  NOTE: a THESA Physical form is not required but is provided for convenience.  Please review the THESA Eligibility Requirements, and read the THESA Athletic Handbook

Also, please review the NCHC Homeschool Basketball Eligibility Guidelines.

WHEN: August 13, 2024 (times in the table below).  Please arrive 30 minutes before your tryout time for check-in.  A Coaches Look will be August 20, 2024 at the same location from 4:30-6:30 PM for anyone that either can’t attend the regularly scheduled tryout time on August 13 (exception-basis) for their age group, or, for athletes we ask to return to get a 2nd look.  If you can’t attend the August 13th tryout, you must request to attend the coaches look by emailing We will briefly address parents/athletes before tryouts; parents are welcome to stay and watch, but please no “coaching” from the bleachers.
