WHO: All prospective THESA Riders for the 2022-2023 Boys’ Basketball Season. So, if you know of homeschooled athletes that didn’t play for THESA in 2021-2022, but might be interested this year, please invite them or put them in contact with us.
WHAT (do I do to prepare for tryouts): Athletes should be working on their basketball skills and conditioning. There are videos on our website that can be used as an aid.
Athletes are to bring a THESA Basketball Athlete Application and Release form, and a valid physical (within last 12 months) to tryouts. If a physical has not been completed, one must be completed before the first game. NOTE: a THESA Physical form is not required but is provided for convenience. Please review the THESA Eligibility Requirements, and read the THESA Athletic Handbook.
Also, please review the NCHC Homeschool Basketball Eligibility Guidelines. https://www.nchclive.com/guidelines/
WHEN: We have completed our main tryout. A Coaches Look will be August 23, 2022 at the same location from 5:30 -7:30 PM for anyone that either couldn’t attend the regularly scheduled tryout time on August 11 (exception-basis) for their age group, or, for athletes we ask to return to get a 2nd look. If you couldn’t attend the August 11th tryout, you must request to attend the coaches look by emailing THESA.Riders.Boys.Basketball@gmail.com. Please arrive 15 min early for check-in. We will briefly address parents/athletes before tryouts; parents are welcome to stay and watch, but please no “coaching” from the bleachers.
WHERE: Countryside Bible Church 250 Countryside Court, Southlake, TX 76092
WHY: This is competitive homeschool basketball so the tryout is used to evaluate skill and potential team placement. Athletes will participate in basketball drills. Because it is competitive, placement is not guaranteed.
HOW (do I know which tryout time to attend): Player team eligibility is determined based on your birthday as of Sep. 1 of the current year. Example(s): Player A is 15 as of 9/1/2022. Player A should attend the 16U Tryout. Player B is 14 as of 9/1/2022 but wants to be considered for 16U; Player B should attend both the 14U and 16U Tryouts.
ABOUT THESA BASKETBALL
THESA Riders boys basketball offers competitive basketball for middle and high school aged boys (age 10 and above).
The season runs from November to early March.
We compete against area homeschool teams, private schools, and some public schools throughout the DFW area. One of our program goals is to schedule a sufficient number of games in a season to prepare us for the homeschool tournaments at the end of our season.
We participate in several homeschool tournaments where some are at locations that require overnight stays (State tourney is 3 nights in Round Rock, TX / Nationals is 6 nights in Springfield, MO).
Parents: We are in need of volunteers for the upcoming season! Areas of need are coaches, assistant coaches, scorekeepers, clock operators, statistician, video/photography, etc. Please prayerfully consider how you can help.
Per athlete fees are as follows:
*Final fees will be set after tryouts. Also, NCHC has changed their fee structure so there will be an additional $50 player fee, per athlete, paid directly to NCHC at the time of player registration for the District/Regional/National Tournaments.
NOTE: Returning 12/14U Players and 16/18U Players do not need a new uniform provided prior year fits and is in good repair. Uniform includes custom sublimation home and away jersey and shorts, and Adidas Shooter Hoodie. An annual $50 THESA Annual Family Fee will also be collected if not paid yet for the 2022-2023 school year.
The boys’ basketball calendar of events is posted in the THESA Riders website (www.thesariders.com).
